ABB's objective was to consolidate its EDI infrastructure distributed among four locations in Germany. For its offer of migrating the solutions implemented among different Seeburger technologies to a central platform, QUIBIQ was awarded the contract. The decisive factors for this were the real-time analysis feature of the BizTalk Server and the simple integration in Microsoft Office for process control.
The BizTalk Server was implemented as the central integration platform for around 1,200 suppliers with the message types ORDERS, DESADV and INVOIC in the format EDIFACT d96a. Thanks to the integration in Microsoft Office, administrators can control the associated processes (who receives which messages) directly from Office. With the business activity monitoring feature, the management receives real-time analyses of data exchange content. Communication with two SAP systems and the archive system was realised via SAP XI.
ABB is a leader in energy and automation technology. The company allows its customers in energy supply and industry to improve their performance and to reduce their environmental impact.
ABB employs 102,000 people in 100 countries worldwide. ABB generates a turnover of €2.7 billion in Germany, where it employs a workforce of 12,600 employees.
In IT, ABB pursues a clear dual-vendor strategy with Microsoft and SAP: Core processes and financial accounting are mapped in SAP, while other functions are mapped wherever possible using the Microsoft platform.
